Wildcats game

Micah's work blessed their employee's this weekend with tickets to see the Moncton Wildcats take on a Quebec team. It was a fun afternoon spent with our great friends Stephen and Maria (Stephen works with Micah). I had never been to a Wildcats game so it was really fun to watch not only the hockey game but all the other exciting things that were going on as well. We also got to enjoy a wonderful free lunch of Jumbo Hotdogs, fries and soda! Good thing Sundays are our cheat day!

Pizza Raclette

Jamie and Maria-Helene blessed Micah and I this weekend with a trip to Moncton. We decided that this would be a good time to introduce our new Moncton friends to Pizza Raclette. Genieve, Phil, Stephen and Maria joined us to enjoy a wonderful evening around the Raclette grill.

A Raclette grill for all of you who may not know is a huge grill with 8 little trays underneath the grill. What you do for pizza Raclette is you prepare pizza dough then you take little balls of the dough and place it in your own little tray. Next you pick the pizza toppings that you would like to enjoy on your pizza and put them on the top of the grill. Once the dough is cooked you spread pizza sauce on it and then the toppings you have grilled up add the cheese and then put back under the grill until the cheese is melted. It was so much fun chatting as we were waiting for our pizza’s to cook!

Once we were all filled up and the table was
cleaned up we enjoyed playing jungle speed followed by some couples Dutch blitz!

Back to the roots!

This weekend Micah and I were blessed to be able to travel back to the small town of Antigonish NS to visit my brothers and sisters in Christ. The drive down was a relaxing time for us to read together and enjoy each others company without any distractions. The closer we got to “the nish” the more our emotions became mixed. We associate that drive with one of us leaving without the other…but this time we were both going together and leaving together. We arrived Friday evening just in time to join Deanna and her cousins, who were down visiting, for supper. After supper we headed to Sommers Hall to join the fellow Christians for a time of worship, teaching and prayer. It was so nice to be back home with my close friends worshiping God together. After the “LIFE” service they had an “afterlife” dessert party. This was a fun time of fellowship with lots of yummy treats!

Learning the directions for the desserts!

My friend stacey and I doing some dance moves!

Saturday

This was a very busy day for Micah and I because we had so many people to visit while we were there. I spend some of the day with my dear friend Carolyn showing her and her roommate Carrie our wedding pictures. Later on in the day I was blessed to be able to spend time with my dear friend Helena at Deanna’s house decorating cookies. I had pre-baked heart shaped cookies and took them to Dee’s house to be decorated. It was fun to see all the different things that we
did with our cookies.

While we did this Micah and Dee’s cousin Clinton spend time playing video games on the computer.

Later that night we went to the church and spent time with the youth group there. After being challenged by Alex and his word about obeying our parents we headed to the bowling ally to show off our skills.

some crazy camera time while waiting for our turns to bowl!

And even later that night we headed over to Alex and Dan’s house to have a good bye barbeque for Dee’s brother Jason. We were very blessed by a friend to provide us with dear steaks! It was so yummy and we even got to bring some home!

Roots Cont'd

Sunday

This morning we headed out to church to visit my first church family. It felt so good to be back in their arms again and to hear pastor give an enthusiastic message on Jude 1:25.

After church we headed back to Dee’s to enjoy a wonderful brunch of pancakes, hash browns, eggs, toast, whip cream and strawberries.

Once we were filled up we headed over to the packed gym to watch the X-men basketball team take on UCB. It was a intense game with lots of cheering from out section. The X-men game won the very close game against the Capers.

When the game was over Alex, Micah and I headed back to Dee’s place where we had a delicious
pineapple curry supper. We then spent the rest of the evening play “Canadian Cranium” a game that Dee created for a teaching tool. Its just like Cranium except the board is a train track, the players are not colors but instead Canadian figures like a hockey mask, bottle of maple syrup, seal, beaver and nickel and the categories have been total changed to Canadian things. It was a fun game to play and I am sure that her students are going to have as much fun playing as we did.

Monday

We woke up bright and early this morning (6:30AM) to head out to the university for morning prayer. This morning however they were doing things a little different, instead of meeting in a room where they normal pray they decided to surround campus with prayer. So about 25 of us braved the snow storm (it was very hard to get out of bed to do) and walked the outside of campus, the inside of campus and the buildings on campus with prayers. It was a refreshing time as God brought to our hearts and spirits stuff to pray for. God also keep us all every warm during our prayer time! When classes were about to start and campus starting getting busy we headed back to Dee’s to get ready for the day.

Micah and I had decided to make Valentines Day on this day because we were going to be busy doing youth group on Tuesday. So we went out for a wonderful breakfast at my favorite restaurants! After visiting some of my professors we went back to Dee’s house to pack up and say our goodbyes. The drive home was wonderful it was such a bright and sunny day. When we arrived home we prepared a delious supper and enjoyed a wonderful candle light dinner together. What a wonderful way to end such a fun weekend!

Trip to Amherst

For all of you who do not know Micah and I have been helping out with the African Children’s choir at our new church. Micah plays the drums while I have been doing choreography with them. This weekend was our first show at a little church in Amherst.

Micah and I had a full car load on the way to Amherst. We had Grace (the little baby) her mom and one of her bigger brother with us.

The children performed first and then the adult choir, which consists of all the children’s older siblings and parents, performed. After the church service we had a time of fellowship down stairs of the church before heading back home again. This month is going to be a busy month for us as we will be traveling with the choir a lot because it is black history month. Micah and I are really looking forward to spending more time with this beautiful community.

When we got home from Amherst we went over to our friend Stephens’s and soon to be Maria’s apartment. We had a great time there. We mostly ate, (which is a big thing that we seem to do everywhere and then talk about it), chatted, and played some Dance Dance Revolution. When we were all danced out our friend Deborah taught as an African song with actions. We enjoyed a wonderful prayer time together and had communion. We feel blessed to have meet such wonderful God loving friends here in Moncton.
